A MOTHER'S PRAYER

MOTHER AND CHILD

A MOTHER'S PRAYER
As a chaplain having the privilege to spend quality time with Margaret and hearing about her life

... it is blessing to realize just how precious
... a  few conversations with a person can be in developing a pastoral friendship, as well as,
A renewed understanding of  the power of God relationship with us.
... even at the end of someone’s life.
.
These past two years I have wrestled with the Three Great  Problems
... we cannot solve, with the work of a long life, with our science, or with our medicines
Evil, Disease, and Death continue to be our challenge.
.
We have been given a “supernatural power”: Prayer
Prayer, the tool,  for each individual to develop an undersatnding and  knowledge to “push-back”,
... at least for a while, to prepared ourselves for the end of life.

Margaret’s prayer life has been, for me, the true witness of the christian mother doing her daily work.
... intercessions for family, friends, daughters, grandchildren and strangers like me.
... 1000 prayers placed in the arms of the Angel of Death to be
... folded into a Golden Star and
... placed into the Hands of God.
.
There is a growing sadness in me
... knowing that a good life ending.
Yet, for me, the world is in constant communication with us, including me
... that there is a spirit in the world,
God is in the world
God can be spoken to and will respond at all times,
... there is a presence in the world that is holy and sacred and
... that each of us are in constant dialogue with this divine presence
... as we live through the events of our day.
.
It could be that Margaret’s past months has a special message for all of us..

Only the good things
robert r. lackney, chaplain
PS: A few will sense the "presence of the sacred", especially coming away from hospital rooms where you may  have "connected" with a man or woman at a critical juncture in their lives. Our service may have been an :instrument somehow.  We give but at the same time receive
